Episode 002 – The 2013 20in24 Ultra Marathon – The Strength of the Running Community

This episode I talked about the 2013 20 in 24 Ultra Marathon. This race weekend is held in Philadelphia every July and was cancelled by mandate of the Director of Public Safety because of the heat. The race website is 20in24.com and you can see the letter ordering the shutdown here.

I also talked about the aftermath of that cancellation and how it showed the true strength of the running community and the bond runners have.

With all this talk about heat I shouted out to the Twitter universe and asked “would you DNS a race because of the heat and how hot is too hot to run?” Responses given were on both sides of the coin, but more people would still run the race and adjust their pace based on the heat.
